TUCSON - For many Americans, doing a day of service is their way to honor the memory of Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr.
Here in Tucson, numerous organizations and volunteers got together at Peter Howell Elementary School Monday morning to make Tucson a better place.
People of all colors and ages came together for a good cause, and no money was involved, just donated time.
About 300 Girl Scouts and Americorps members got involved in 16 different service activities that tied in with 10 different community organizations, like Ben's Bells, Beads of Courage, and Habitat for Humanity.
The effort doesn't end on Martin Luther King Day, over 60 Americorps members have committed to a year of service though out Southern Arizona...
It's the second year in a row for the event, and organizers say they would like to make it an annual tradition.
